Healthwatch Sutton has published a report on the maternity services in Sutton, centred on people’s experience of giving birth at St Helier hospital.

  • Continuity of Care
  • Praise for staff
  • Clear understanding and choice

Our Key Findings on "What is not going as well" were:

  • Being left alone
  • Not being listened to
  • Not being given enough information to make a choice
  • Conflicting advice from midwives and consultants
  • Unsympathetic and lacking empathy
  • Discussion after labour on how it went
  • Aftercare, including care of stitches
  • Understanding of tests on baby (including Tongue-tied)
  • Not being given information no vaccinations
  • Finding support after leaving hospital, including feeding support
