Formal complaints can take some time to deal with. You will need to get together paperwork like medical records, as well as completing forms and attending meetings. The procedure is best used for things that have gone wrong in the past – for example, if you want part of the NHS to accept that things went wrong, and/or to do things differently in future.

You can get free and confidential advice and support about submitting a formal complaint from Advocacy for All, a local community group. Ring them on:

0345 310 1812

Choose option 5 (Sutton)
They are open Monday 10.30am – 12.30pm and Thursday 9.00am – 2.00pm

You can find more information, as well as forms to download, on their website.
